Project: Interior design of a home wine cellar in the basement
Category: Residential design
The project represents designing a wine cellar in the basement of the owner. The basement space is cool, dark and relatively free from vibration and odors, that make perfect conditions for keeping wine. The basement space was already equipped with floor tiles with wooden natural grey tone and wall technique, which was ready to be equiped with furniture, designed according to the needs for a relaxed athmosphere for storring and consuming the wine collection. The idea of the design was to create a cozy cocooned cave, ready for a relaxed evening or an energized morning workout. The space is long and narrow, which conditioned the division of the interior in two functional zones: an entrance workout zone and the wine cellar.
The wine cellar is designed with accent wall equipped with designed wine shelves for storring the bottles. The bottles are placed horizontal and upright that keep the corks moist and prevent sediment from settling. Next to the wine wreck is positioned the custom made high table with high comfortable chairs, as a focal point of the space for gatherings, tasting and consuming wine. The custom made furniture is produced from a solid wood that resistant the moisture and can withstand the cool conditions of the wine cellar.
The cellar space is illuminated with LED lights for creating relaxed athmosphere without causing damage to the wine. At the entrance is added mirror surface on the wall to visualy enlarge the space, as well as it has a functional benefit for the little gym corner. Little wine motive furniture peaces, thrown all around the space, complement the overall interior design.
