Project: Interior of a temporary showroom for sale of sanitary ware and tiles
Category: Commercial design
The theme of this project was design of a temporary showroom for tiles and sanitary ware.
The main problem was to convert a basement of an existing house into a temporary exhibition hall for tiles and sanitary equipment.
With the requirements of the client, the design idea was to make the space look like a home in which a variety of tiles and other products will be displayed as their beloved possessions. So the goal was to create a guest room where visitors will experience a home environment in which they would spend hours feeling comfortable browsing products, learn about the types of products and brands available on the market and make selections to buy them.
The tiles are applied on all available surfaces in the showroom interior, thus achieving additional goal to show the adaptability and possibilities of using tile products in one interior. They were tested through their application on the floor, on the walls, on the pillars and even on the furniture. This way of tiles exhibition at the same time educates the visitors about a much greener (sustainable) and less expensive use of these products as a version for replacement of buying expensive materials and interior equipment, taking into account other alternatives and easily sustainable products than natural stones.
The interior architecture of the showroom is divided in few zones. At the entrance is the reception area alongside an avant- garde gold wall- decorated with a mosaic detail composed of hexagonal tiles. The kitchen, visually fused into the wall, has work surface and sides covered with tiles with a natural marble pattern. The meeting zone is equipped with meeting large table with top surface made from tiles, positioned facing the large TV screen framed on the wall with a lighted tile frame. A decorative fireplace that gives warm ambiance makes contrast to the marble patterns used in the space. The walls are equipped with sliding shelves, each with a number of exhibited tile combinations. Custom shelves are designed to display different décors, sizes and brands of ceramic, marble and granite tiles.
The products are discreetly exposed in the space, which enables flawless circulation for their users. Appropriate artificial ceiling lighting is used to highlight them, which creates effect of an art gallery.
